چکیده

Accurate delineation of anatomical objects in 3D vol-umetric data is a signiicant problem in medical imaging. We have built a system that takes as input a spatial stack of 2D image slices being studied. The output of the system is a smooth 3D surface delineating the medical structure of interest, and the volume enclosed by the 3D surface. This paper presents a new method to represent a 3D anatomical object by a de-formable B-spline tube, that facilitates the calculation of the volume enclosed based on a closed-form volume calculation formula. In order to validate the deformable B-spline surface tting and associated volume calculation , 19 simulated 3D images were considered and theoretical volumes were compared with volumes produced by our system. The errors were less than 4:9%.

A Deformable Model using Probabalistic Labelling and Surface Relaxation to Segment MR Volumes

Deformable models often require some degree of user-interaction to produce an accurate segmentation of the feature object. We propose an automatic deformable surface for segmenting the femur from magnetic resonance volumes of the knee. In order to overcome the limitations of many existing deformable models, probabilistic labelling is used to drive the deformation process, together with a surfac...

A Relationship between Spline-Based Deformable Models and Weighted Graphs in Non-Rigid Matching

Deformable models are central to non-rigid motion analysis, shape matching and non-rigid medical image registration. Spline-based deformations are a very popular class of parameterizations of deformable models and have been heavily used in multiple domains. In a somewhat separate sub-field, weighted graphs are a frequently used object parameterization. Graph matching using weighted graph object...

Measuring and segmentation in CT data using deformable models

Accurate measuring of physical properties of human body has great importance for determining the best treatment. Our work aims at measuring volumes of organs such as kidney or liver in image data obtained from computed tomography (CT). We take advantage of long-time research in the area of deformable models. We have developed parametric model using closed B-Spline curves and have formulated ene...

A NURBS-Based Technique for the Segmentation of Medical Images

Extracting the human brain from magnetic resonance head scans is difficult because of its highly convoluted and nonuniform geometry. A technique based on Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) and energy minimising deformable models to extract the brain surface accurately from MR head scans is presented. The weighting parameter that comes with the NURBS definition is explored to attract the sur...
